Should I just get a PS4?

Hello all,

Unfortunately, I have run into a very bad problem. I am only 14 and unable to get a job, even though I have tried as hard as I could to get one. Furthermore, since I cannot get a job, I am not going to have enough money for a new PC. I have built some for people but never actually got paid to it, so that is not the worry. I have already bought some parts after I sold my Xbox, but I still need a lot more money to do this. It would take me three years to get the money and I refuse to ask my parents for money as I know that we are tight on funds. My only option is to wait, or sell my parts and HP iPaq and get a PS4 and BF4. Is this the right thing to do? I don't want to be videogameless, but at the same time I want my PC. I have a lot of adult friends that have PS4, but ironically, I hate kids, and there are less kids on PC. Should I just get a PS4?

Here is my desired parts list. http://pcpartpicker.com/p/36slx

Thank you.

All the best,
-Kai

For a 14 year old with no income and little money, that is a way over the top PC.
i7, 16GB RAM, 250GB SSD, $100 liquid cooling, $360 GPU.....

I know everyone wants the absolute bestest right now, but good grief !
This is not a 'bad problem', this is a 'patience problem'.

Sell the cooler, sell the SSD. Take whatever you get from that, and whatever you already have, and get a more medium grade PC, or a PS4.
But a PC will server you much, much better.

You can maybe drop prices a bit more by toning down the pc and slowly upgrading a cheaper GPU and using an AMD CPU and adequte motherboard. Half the ram for now. no liquid cooler. Just basic and as you come into the money for a part add it in.

I have the case and liquid cooler as well as the SSD. I could always sell those as they are new though. I have no money saved as of now. Could someone put together a list for me?

There is the problem you want the best you can get. You're hoping you can sell your parts for that much but to be honest you probably won't sell them for as much as you paid for them that's just how this works. in one week I'll have spend over $2000 on my setup but I i turned around and sold it I'd maybe get 750-800 likely. If I sold it locally maybe 1200. I'm jsut saying buy parts that will get you by until you can get the best parts.

You say you're 14 and can't get a job. Have you tried getting jobs mowing lawns? Raking leaves? Shoveling snow? Cleaning out a neighbor's garage? There are so many opportunities for a 14 year old. I know 12 and 13 year old people that work like this and make quite good money, as in over $100 per week, and as much as $3000 in a years time.

Of course, it can also depend on where you live as to what is available. If you live in a small town or suburb, though, then you could do quite well for yourself. I know someone that just recently graduated college, and paid for it by working odd jobs like this from the time he was 12. He is now lined up with a very good career to make good money with his degree. Think about it.
