So my LG D2342P Monitor decided to pack in, or develop problems. I'm looking to buy a new monitor to fit my needs. I have completed the form below:

1. What Is Your Country Of Origin?

I live in the UK

2. What do you plan to do with this monitor? (ex. Games, Movie Watching, Photo Editing, etc.)

Gaming, Movie Watching, Creating Graphics.

3. What resolution and screen size do you want?
1080p or 1440p. Which ever will be more cost effective and which will be better to buy.
I'm more sided with 1080p. Looking around a 23"/24" screen size.

4. What refresh rate do you want? (ex. 60 hz , 70 hz.)
Anything that will benefit me. Not too bothered.

5. How much are you looking to spend?
In the region of £100 - £200.

6. Brands Preferred (ex. Samsung, Acer, Asus, AOC, HP, Viewsonic, etc. )
Samsung would be a good brand to look at but I'm not bothered as long as it isn't
a cheap chinese brand that no-one has heard of.

7. Brands Not Preferred (state reason why)
None that are unknown.

8. Are You Buying More Than One Monitor?
No.

9. How Many Displays Can Your GPU Support Maximum? And what GPU and driver version are you using if applicable?

Unsure on how many it can support. I think 6 being an AMD card (I maybe wrong).
I have a HD7850 with the latest 14.2 beta drivers.

10. What Port Do You Want To Connect To (ex. DVI-D, HDMI, etc).
Preferably HDMI/DVI.

11. Is This Monitor A Primary Display Or A Secondary Display?
Primary.

12. Is This A Secondary Display For A Laptop?
No.

I know this isn't official but I have added an additional section:

13. Other preferences?
Looking at a 3D monitor. Similar to my LG D2342P. I don't want anything too expensive.
Preferably, 2 HDMI ports. Not a requirement though.
This is a 50/50 requirement/preference. I'm looking at getting a monitor with speakers. As said though not 100% required.

In addition, I have seen an AOC 23" 3D Monitor for £160 but unsure if this is any good.

Anywho, any help is appreciated.

Chou.

This requirement almost dictates that you should get either an IPS or PLS monitor. These will be better for image editing and working with graphics. The problem with other panel types is that due to the viewing angle the color of the image will change from one side of the screen to the other (because each side of the screen is at a very slightly different angle than the center of the screen).
The benefit of IPS and PLS is that colors will not shift very much (if at all) with viewing angle.

IPS is available from many companies
PLS is basically Samsung's version of IPS

So, find an IPS model first, then focus on the size and resolution you need.

What are some UK sites that you buy from? Since I don't know prices or models in the UK, I can try searching some sites that you like/prefer.

Here's an example google search for various LG IPS models:
https://www.google.co.uk/#q=lg+ips+24&safe=active&tbm=s...

A BenQ model with a better resolution (more vertical space @ 1920x1200):

So many options out there. :)

Hmm... now that I think about it, quite a few Dell monitors are also IPS and also considered to generally be pretty good. Also, you may want to give that 1920x1200 resolution a bit of consideration if you want that extra vertical space.

Also, here's another important question:
Do you want a glossy or matte screen?

Mainly the sites I look on are Scan, Dabs, Ebuyer, Amazon and just general computer shops in the UK. The ones I've mentioned seem to be the best ones due to customer service and prices. I was looking at IPS displays but some were quite expensive to buy and I'm only looking something that was on par with my LG D2342P monitor. When I meant creating graphics it's not constant, just the odd computer graphics, say an avatar or website graphics say.

I think I've narrowed it down to these two monitors but again, not too sure so what do you think?

AOC 23" 3D LED IPS - £160:

OR What seems to be an updated version of mine

LG D2343P-BN - £155.72:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/LG-D2343P-BN-23-inch-Widescreen...

Both say they are IPS displays and both incorporate 3D. The AOC is the one that includes speakers and the LG does not. This wouldn't bother me too much as I do have external speakers I can use. Both I could get cheaper due to Flubit. What do you think?

Both are supposedly matte finish. And both are IPS (even though Amazon incorrectly says the LG is a TN).

So... if you just wanted an upgrade for your current LG, maybe the LG would be a good pick?

Anyways, if you can check out any of the models in a store (sometimes they have LG in stores), that's always helpful to see if the monitor is like you want ... especially for something you look at ALL the time.

I'd get the AOC 23'' because I personally love AOC's monitors, if you already have an LG though get the LG.

Quote:
Yeah, seems Amazon lists the LG as TN, but it really is an IPS; so you are right there.
Both are matte screen.

Seems I was wrong.
Apparently the both monitors are rather glossy:

They might not have the heavy matte coating that some monitors have. Perhaps they are halfway between matte and glossy? I don't know if this matters to you, but just thought I'd mention it.
