I'm doing my first ever gaming PC build and I've run into a snag. I've connected every connection required to boot and even triple checked the connections. Although, when I plug in my power supply and turn on the switch I get nothing.
My setup is:
CPU: AMD Athlon X4 760K 3.8GHz Quad-Core Processor
Motherboard: MSI FM2-A75MA-E35 Micro ATX FM2 Motherboard
Memory: Kingston XMP Blu Red Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory
Storage: Kingston SSDNow V300 Series 120GB 2.5" Solid State Disk
Video Card: Sapphire Radeon R7 260X 2GB Video Card
Case: Apex PCV-588 (Black) ATX Mid Tower Case
Power Supply: Corsair CX 500W 80+ Bronze Certified Semi-Modular ATX Power Supply
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 8.1 (OEM) (64-bit)
Everything is brand new.
Ok, If all i plug in is my 24 pin molex connector and my 4 pin cpu connector and have the CMOS battery inserted and I flip the switch on the back of the power supply I get absolutely nothing. But when I remove the CMOS battery and flip the power supply switch all of the fans light up and turn on and the front panel leds come on. I've done the same thing with the system under full load. I even bought a new CMOS battery.
I've read that some of these motherboards tend to ship with an outdated bios that doesn't run a Richland CPU, but i figured the system would at least turn on when the battery is inserted. I'm trying everything I can think of.
I'm assuming it's shorting somewhere? I was going to try to breadboard the system but i cant because I get no power with the CMOS battery inserted. This is my first build and I'm sort of new but I understand what all needs to be happening.
I really really don't want to have to send this motherboard back... but if it's shot there's nothing I can do. If so what's an alternative motherboard that can keep my blue color scheme and is relatively cheap for the performance and function. Really disappointing being my first build and all and how long I've waited for the parts.
I really appreciate all the help and thank you in advance.
