This will be my first computer build so any advice would be appreciated.

I've basically decided on a 770 for my GPU and a Samsung SSD for storage, but I could be swayed.
My main question is whether I should get 8gb or 16gb of RAM and if there are any brands that stick out above the rest. Also, I'd like to know what odds and ends I may need that I'm not anticipating (like what should I do for cooling?)
