windows 8.1 faulty install

I just got done building my computer and was installing windows 8.1 before it was done installing it went to the blue recovery screen reading error code 0xc000000e contacted microsoft they said get a new disk of windows 8.1 and try again does anyone know another way

If you think it's the disk, could try d'loading the ISO from here

You'll need your Product Key, and decide whether to install from DVD or USB

Try another OS just to see if it works. You can always format and get rid of it when you get your new disc. Ubuntu is free. You could also try an older version of windows, if you have any copies.

Correct me if im wrong im still fairly new to computers but wont it just try booting windows 8.1 if I have a different op system in or will it switch and start installing the new system

Install on a seperate partition. Operating systems give you that option when inatalling. You may have the option to format the hdd and get rid of that faulty install. If you keep both, you'll have the option when your computer boots.
