I purchased this computer a couple years ago:

http://h20565.www2.hp.com/portal/site/hpsc/template.PAGE/public/kb/docDisplay/?sp4ts.oid=5151865&spf_p.tpst=kbDocDisplay&spf_p.prp_kbDocDisplay=wsrp-navigationalState%3DdocId%253Demr_na-c03072349-17%257CdocLocale%253D%257CcalledBy%253D&javax.portlet.begCacheTok=com.vignette.cachetoken&javax.portlet.endCacheTok=com.vignette.cachetoken

I asked for help on a gaming forum and was told to upgrade the graphics card and power supply.

I upgraded the power supply to this:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817182073

I upgraded the graphics card to this:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/GDDR5-GTX760-Geforce-760-2GB-2048MB-PCI-E-Nvidia-Video-Card-/141193273619?nma=true&si=2GJtjRB%252Fk9W6UrQFnRu%252FjEH4Kk8%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557

What should I do next?

The performance still isn't where I want it to be and also the power supply was too big for the case, so I need a new case too.

Any help at all is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
James

Ouch. Just around the 2+GHz for processing power. Good thing you upgraded your Power Supply and Video. Ram is quite good if you have like 4-8 Gig at the moment. What you lack here is processing power. I see that you have 4 cores, maybe you can tweak them to your specifications? That's what I have for you, or you might want to upgrade your processor if you can find a better replacement.

Does the link work now, cats_Paw?

Also, I would like to stream my gaming too, if possible. I'm not sure how much my internet is affecting my performance. I average 15-18 down and 11 up.

Thanks amalager!

Tweaking the processor is a little over my head. What frequency is ideal and can you recommend a processor?

Also, would upgrading the motherboard do much and if I upgrade the processor should I also get a cooler for it?

Thanks again

Settings may vary. They depend on who's the MoBo Manufacturer. An Example is Asus. They have a MoBo that has a "core unlocker" feature and most of the settings for tweaking your processor is in their UEFI interface. If you wish to change processor, I'd recommend changing the board as well. Coz you may have an old processor there and you might not find a modern counterpart of your Mobo---pins matter so it's processor pins+MoBo processor slot. You won't need additional cooling if you're not overclocking your rig.

Can you recommend a processor and motherboard? My budget isn't too set in stone. I want the best bang for my buck, but at the same time, would like to future proof it as much as I can. I'm not totally sure how to make sure they are compatible with everything else I have.

Is that what you would do or would you just tweak what I have already? I have to play most games on medium settings right now to have decent FPS.

Well, I'm not familiar with other Motherboard brands. I used to work for Asus so I'll just recommend something that I'm familiar with. Check this board: http://
That board works with AMD processors. I like to use AMD processors for gaming. :)
