Hello!

I'm new to building PC's and I'd appreciate your help to build a relatively powerful PC with-in 600 CAD. I have Windows 7 professional, already. I don't really need an optical drive, will I need it for Windows? (i heard it is possible to install off a flash drive?). Also, I d really like the case to be rather small for easier transportation. SSD and 8GB RAM would be nice, I guess, but I doubt it will fit the budget.

Any suggestions are welcome. Thank you.

This 660 is about 10 inches

I think the Rosewill Challenger or NZXT gamma will fit it and they're great budget cases

The budget is 600 Canadian dollars. By quadro you mean - something like Nvidia Quadro graphics card? What are the advantages over something like 660 GTX? I once had an Nvidia Quadro 2000 and 4000 and did not find them particularly powerful for gaming, but they did well for 3D applications like Maya.

Quadro is a more workstation aimed solution than a gaming solution. It's a bit like the firepro serie from AMD.

Quadro is available in all price ranges but as a compromise you could get something like a 270x with 4gb of vram for the bigger CAD project and still have quite awesome gaming performance.

Sorry, I meant CAD as Canadian Dollars, not Autodesk CAD.

Thank you for you reply!

I don't quite understand if it's possible to fit something like GeForce 660 into a smaller case ? Could you please recommend a good small case?

I have the Rosewill challenger and for the price I payed I can't complain too much, the only thing is behind the motherboard tray is a rather tight fit for the 24 pin motherboard connector.

I would definitely upgrade my build to a 660 if you can fit it into your budget, the performance difference will be rather large and it'll play games much better.
