Hello,
I have AMD ATHLON 64 processor (nforce6100) running on ASUS M2N-MX motherboard.
The motherboard+Processor was purchased in year 2005 hence its quit old now, thus having some problems now like:
1)USB and PS2 ports dead except one.
2)Heating lot getting shut down often in 6 months, and needed to visit local service station to get heatsink back to work for next 5 months.
So, my question is to get new motherboard to replace current one as Asus has stopped making AM2 socket motherboards.
Need best possible solution that will suport my current processor, DDR2. Also I want to make this PC suitable for gaming.
Appreciate your reading this question and thanks in advance.!

Socket Am2 wasn't released until May of 2006, so your machine is a little newer than you think. I noticed newegg still sells an AM2 compatible mother board from asrock. (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157274). Its an outdated socket, so you won't find many options.
