Recover data from deleted partition

Hello fellas, yesterday I bought a 1TB HDD to install my programs.
I already have a SSD (for OS) and a 5400rpm 1TB drive for storage which had 2 partitions (1 for storage around 700GB and the rest for installing programs).
Silly me, used Win 8 storage manager to "merge" them, failing and realizing I had deleted de partitions, I created a new partition of 1TB from the unallocated space and obviously had to format it..
Is there any way I can recover my old files?

Update: I already used Recuva, but it changed the name of all the files and are unrecognizable :/

Restore from backup

If I had a back up I wouldn't be asking here

yep they do. Cause if you had come here first before doing a merge partition, I would have said backup first. and second, don't use the buildin windows 8 tools.

I have done it before with the Windows 8 tool and with Partition Magic and had no problems, didn't seem necessary

If the data stored in your lost partitions are worth recovering. You might consider to consult a data recovery service professional like WeRecoverData.com to guide you and give you insights on how to recover your data. Rather than using tools that you still have to get familiar with and might lead you to further damage of the drive and/or permanent data loss.
