Using local network and Wifi at the same time?

Is it possible to use a router (which does not have internet access) on a local network and wifi (internet connection) at the same time on the same pc? I want to be able to view this computer from VPN software while still having an active internet connection without them interfering . I dont know a lot about networking so simplify as much as possible please?

The local is obviously wired through ethernet .

You can have as many network adapters as you like, all connected to different networks. But only one will serve as your default gateway. And it's that network adapter that will provide your internet access. So just as long as the router is configured to NOT return a default gateway from DHCP, it should work fine.

Now the description of the VPN is a little vague. You mention needing to “view this computer”, which suggests it’s running a VPN server, presumably making your computer accessible remotely over the wifi connection. If that’s the case, I don’t see a problem. But again, there isn’t much detail here, so I can only speak in generalities.
