I am downloading at about 15kbps, but i can go to any site and it loads instantly.

Took me 3 hours to download google chrome last night and i started downloading Java before i went to work at 6 this morning, it is now 8:30 and it is not even half done.

I have tried unplugging and plugging in my router, i have called my ISP and they are saying everything on their end is normal. My connection with my PS3 and my phone and my tablet are all working fine. It is just my desktop that i just got and i have it connected with an ethernet cable, not wireless.

Solution
hello.

have you tried another ethernet cable or if you have a laptop connect where your having issue at by the ethernet you are using and disable wireless for test and see if that is the same.

if you are running of a router or gateway have you tried switching ports.

also, try to run speedtest.net from that device and another to compare
also, try to run pingtest.net (will need java to work) if you are having a a lot of packet loss you may not see it to much on a simple page but more so on large download. there are also jitter and all but pingtest will help you with that.

It could be bad NIC on the device, if it is mobile and all else works fine try taking it to somewhere else you know is good speed and see if still slow there.

Your drivers may be wrong - find out the wireless card in your desktop is and go get the drivers online you might also have a cd that came with your desktop, insert and reinstall network card drivers from there

have you tried to download java/chrome on devices you say work fine...do they get faster speed.

sorry for all the questions but I am not sure if problem device is laptop, pc....do not know if on DSL, sat, cable, fiber....also if the router is old G non megabit etc, and you have fast speed internet.

I am just trying to cover several possibilities.

hope you find a solution
