Sharing a network from xp to win 7 using a switch ?????/

I have a comp. with win XP and using a switch i want to share broadband connection with a win 7 pc using a wire???? please tell me the steps and also how to create connection??? by which if i follow these steps we should be able to use independently.......

If you want to use the computer on the Internet independently of each other, you don't have the right equipment. You will need a router. If you want shared access via one computer, you can use windows ICS (Internet connection Sharing). I don't recommend ICS, but you can google how to set it up as I've never did this before, but know people that have succesfully used it.

If you puchase a router, you should have this setup:
Modem -> router -> switch -> PC's.

The router will even have a few LAN ports you can attach PC's to.

Are you talking about networking in general or using the Internet? I've described using the Internet in my previous post. For simple networking, just use cat5e cable between the PCs and the switch. Configure the network card in each computer to have an IP address on the same subnet and turn on file & printer sharing.
