Hard drive won't start up...

So nearly all the time know, itting harder for me to boot my hard drive up on the first power up, sometimes, it will come on, and most the time it won't, But if I swap wire's around and that now and again it can some times work. But I think it could be related to my power on issue, when I click the power button it turns on, then off, and comes back on after like 7 seconds!, plz help

it could be the psu if you are able to start it load the hdd maker tool to test the drive and if you have a old psu around i would use it for test .

Some how got it to turn on, know running defraggler, most of the hard drive is fragmented, might be why, so gunna do this for a while

you could put it in another system as external and try to defrag it and in the same time test it with the drive maker tool .

I managed to De-Frag it last night, for about 4 Hours, and then i made it so it turned off after it finished, i come home today and tryed to turn it on but it wont come on, but its weird, when i turn off the computer and put my ear next to the HDD, i can hear it slowing down.

I dont get whats wrong! can you give me a link to the Drive Maker tool, had a look last night and couldnt find it thanks

I ruled out that its not the PSU, because, i took my GPU out, my exhaust fan, and it still didnt come on, but i can hear it spinning, ive tryed 3 cables

I also checked if it was my ram, nope.

ive also tryed the SATA power cables, and Molex no luck!

Hitachi model: hdt725032vla380

i was also holding it in my hand and turned it on (case closed on hard drive), and it defo spins, but windows just doesnt come on

EDIT!!!!!!!!11 just changed sata cable again managed to get it on!, so need the tool

this is a pata drive from 2006 use the tool on te link http://www.hgst.com/support/downloads but i would start to check for another the model is a t7k500 http://www.hgst.com/tech/techlib.nsf/products/Deskstar_T7K500

Well, downloading it know, but will this detect "any" problem if anything is wrong with my drive, because its just working perfectly know. I really dont know whats going on!

test it anyway also take a look at the cable in the system that could be a part of your issue bad cable or not connected correctly .

well 3 cables and its work on each one at least once, i think it may be the cable i have no clue but still, computer isnt going off till i find the problem! -_-

So i went on this, and each partion, has NO errors, i mean what the ****, i need to know what this is, because its annoying me, could it be to do with anything to do with the HDD above, magnet or anything right know its on top of my case

no if it test ok it should work inside the case stop the system and use the same cable to put it back in the case dont put the screw on the side to lock it up in .

EDIT: I restarted my computer and it not coming back on, its in the same frigging spot and everything!!!!!

the drive test ok on all partition with all the test not only the smart one ,you gone have to look at the system it could be the motherboard see if there is any bubled capacitor or some thing abnormal in the same time when system be off try the cmos reset and if you have a voltmeter check the voltage of the battery also if the system have more then one stick of ram i would try with only one to boot .

Already tried the ram thats fine, all checks were fine for all partions!, doesnt look like there's any bubbles, rules out about the power supply, so i dont know whats going on, untill i can get my windows disc tomoz, to put it onto my 2nd hdd (it hasnt been plugged in whilst been trying to fix this one) so i can see if it might just be the HDD, the motherboards brand new so i dont knoww....

this board is new and have pata and sata socket for the drive it could be in the bios to boot from the sata port first .

yeah first port, then hdd name, i done this when i first got it, think i have a fix, twice in row it worked, when i press the power button, everything comes on for 1 secs, goes of then comes on after 6-7 secs later, so i pressed it just before 6 seconds twice, and its come on 2 times in row

Any reason why its doing this, a setting in the bios you think? maybe this could be the problem?

did the system driver and bios are up to date i would do a memtest in case .
