New laptop with windows 8.1. Bought 2 Jan 2014. This morning after turning on my laptop, I could not get onto the internet. The password that was there yesterday, is no longer there. How could it have been lost? And why is it asking for the network password?

When I click on the network icon on the bottom right of the computer, it brings up all the available domains and mine is the strongest. I click on it and it says to connect automatically. I click on Connect and that is when it asks for the password. I am wary on putting it in when Windows 8.1 should have it. It does not ask to change the password, just to type it in.
