how do i setup a used/protected wireless router

I'm not familiar with that particular router so I don't have the specifics. If it didn't come with a manual, see if you can find a manual for the exact model you have online. There is usually a reset button somewhere that will set it back to factory defaults, i.e. the way it came from the factory. In the manual it will tell you what the password is when set to factory defaults. Don't forget to change the administrator password when you get it set up. Otherwise, it will be a security hole since the password is published.
