Which one do you think would turn out on top: the 790 coming soon in Quad SLI (2 cards, 4 GPUs) or the TITAN Black just released in 4-Way SLI (4 cards, 4 GPUs). I have access to a custom motherboard so ignore all concerns regarding cooling. It will be running with an i7-4960X.

NOTE: DO NOT POST IN THIS WITH SOMETHING LIKE "Oh, you would never need that kind of hardware." GO AWAY. I CAME HERE TO ASK A QUESTION (like everyone) AND EXPECT THAT QUESTION TO BE ANSWERED (like everyone). IF I WANT ADVICE OR OPINIONS REGARDING PRACTICALITY, I WOULD ASK.

the 790 is rumored to have specs around the same as 2 780 on 1 pcb so you would have 4 780. the titan blacks are essentially 780 ti's with 6gb of vram so it would be 4x 780ti's. if you are doing this for a multi monitor or ultra high resolution then i would go for the higher vram solution, the 790 is 6gb as well but it is shared between 2 gpu so it is essentially 3gb vram per gpu. overall the titan black solution is better for performance and vram

I like this guys comment i caps.
You'd also want to think about the diminishing returns of having 4 cards vs. 2 cards. Not that it would make a big difference at this level of componentry, nonetheless I still the the Titans would come out on top because of the ram.

What kind of memory bus will the 790's have? 512?

Go with the titans of with 290x. I use 4 titans in surround and with eye candy on even wow uses more than 3gb of VRAM (albeit not by much)
