So I'm running an a10 6800k on a a88x pro. Have 4 GB of 2400mhz ram clocked down to 2133. However I've been told that dual graphics is a waste of time. So I'm wondering why the hell did I buy this a10 in the first place. My question is. With a budget of 160 should I buy a cheap card to crossfire with the a10 buy a mid level card and forget about dual graphics or should I sell the a10 and start over.

I did the same exact thing a while back, I saw these new "APUs" and thought WoW I have to have one for my new gaming rig.
I ended up selling it and getting a new motherboard, i5-2500k & 7870.

A10's are awesome for the average consumer/media user/low end gamer, but if you really want decent gaming performance, get something else.

Okay. My problem is this is my only rig and can't afford too much down time. So with a budget of 160 can I sell my board and apu and buy a CPU GPU and Intel board. Or should I keep the amd board and apu and just go with discrete graphics and ignore the fact I paid extra for an apu that is now not being used.

I am not an expert at this and please do not take my word for it but in your case I would sell the APU, with the 160 plus the money from the apu and buy a new cpu and gpu, and board. You can get a good MSI board for 50 bucks on newegg. An i3 4130 for 120 and a galaxy GeForce gt 640 for 70 if you can get enough money selling your APU then you can buy all of this for a good mid gaming level. If you're only a mid to small time gamer you won't need an i3, you can get something way cheaper and worth the pay.

Are you people crazy? I have an A10 6800K, A88X Plus, 16Gbs Corsair ram, a 240Gb SSD HD, and 2Tb WD H Drv.. It runs consistently at 4.4 Ghz and it has never ran hot with the stock heat sink and fan. I've run Sonar II Producer with 12 tracks of audio and never had a glitch. I play with Walfenstein but other than that I'm not a gamer so I can't comment other than to say the game and graphics seem to run prefect on my VIZIO 37" monitor and TV. What's not too love???
