The title may be generic, but my problem dosen't seem too common. Today I upgraded from a phenom II X4 955 and Asus m4a77td pro to a I7 4770K and the Gigabyte Z87 G1 sniper motherboard.

Whenever I try and load up on the original hard drive the computer powers onto the motherboard boot screen, freezes and restarts, I know this is due to the HDD not having the correct drivers. The easiest fix would be to somehow install the new motherboard drivers onto this HDD, so if anyone knows how to do this please share!

Another option I have is installing windows (I have a reusable disk for windows) onto a new hard drive and copying the files over from the old one. I have about 900gb of gaming and work related files on the HDD that would take me about a week of constant downloads to retrieve due to the lack of a decent internet connection where I stay. So loosing the files and starting fresh isn't an option.

The first option is highly favoured as my pc is setup perfectly how I like it, so I don't like the idea of copying all the files over, not to have any files on desktop etc... Any help at all is appreciated,

Thanks in advance!

Full system specs below, I have a hard drive with 900gb of data on it, one with a completely blank version of windows installed and a brand new 1tb HDD that's never been out the box.

I7 4770k
Gigabyte G1 Sniper Z87
Corsair cx600m
8gb 1333 elexir ram
Gigabyte gtx 760
Windows 7 home premium
1tb HDD x3

Changing the motherboard requires re-installing Windows from scratch so that Windows Setup can create a new Product ID -- it's not just because of drivers.

The existing Product ID in the Registry is now invalid so Product Activation will fail. Only Windows Setup can create a new one which is valid for the new board.
