I'm sceptical on my new 8350/290 Tri-X's performance in games, and would love to know if this is average or not
CPU is 4.0ghz, handled default by Bios, with a little turbo boost. Never exceeds 51C
GPU is stock OC'd to 1000/1300, never drops its core clock under max load, and never goes above 73C
GPU Driver 14.2 beta clean installed. CPU chipset up to date.
Yes, these are average FPS's, I have a VERY variable FPS, and I think its my 8350 dipping down or even bottlenecking. I have few games with constant FPS. They don't dip to the lower average THAT often, but to the point that it is bothering my gameplay.

Unigine Valley: 53fps avg
Battlefield 4 1st mission: DX11 50-90fps Mantle: 65-95fps
Battlefield 4 MP: Ultra preset DX11: 40-85fps Mantle: 60-110fps
Borderlands 2 : Max settings, low physx 53-90fps
Crysis 2: Ultra settings 70-100fps in low action, to 39-60fps in high action
CS:GO (yes I know): Max Settings 8xmsaa 160-250fps full MP match
Dead Island 1: max settings 160-230fps
Far Cry 2: Max settings 70-110fps, with dips to 50's
Far Cry 3: Ultra 4xmsaa 45-63fps
Hitman Absolution: Benchmark: 48fps Gameplay: Ultra 8xMSAA 49-75fps
Metro 2033: Max Settings low physx 65-90fps average
Metro Last Light: Very High settings, 2x Supersampling, 49-66fps
Sleeping dogs: Extreme preset 48-52fps avg

Of course these are demanding games, but I built this rig for demanding games... If anyone else out there has a similar 8-core + High end AMD GPU rig, please give me your input. I am a little underwhelmed in some of these games, especially BF4 which I built the rig for. If I can't run Crysis 2, how could I run Crysis 3, you know? and even Far Cry 2 didn't run well.
Is it my CPU not running games well or?
my full Rig's specs are in my signature. Thank you!

I don't own a similar setup, I run a 3570K @4.1GHz and a OC'd 7950@1250Core/1500Memory. But yours seems like really good performance!

Thanks for the input! I guess I still have higher expectations for older games like Crysis 2, and My BF4 performance is quite bad without Mantle. If theres no bottleneck, I should get about 23% for FPS than you, seeing as your 7950 is OC'd to hell and back ;)  got yourself a 7970 pretty much. I was gonna get a 7950 last year, should have too, before the mining craze hit and screwed with the prices.

Yeah, my HIS IceQx2 is a total beast, running at 7970GHz performance, but that is the card lottery you play. And try to overclock that thing! http://www.hardwarecanucks.com/forum/hardware-canucks-r...

OH AND best part is, my OC is on stock voltage! So little to no more heat, just performance

I plan on it. With reference 290's running 95C, its amazing that my Tri-X can keep the card at 73C after 4 hours of BF4 MP... at 38% fan level... the card drops to 59C at 70% fan level. Main worry is my CPU, it can hardly fuel it now, I might have to PC to 4.5ghz

Doesnt look like any prob. More like a worrying issue if ur rig is performing prop. U didnt mention your gaming resolution btw?

I thought it was implied. I'm in 1080p with a 60hz monitor. I also have a 39in 1080p TV and 20" 900p monitor that may be taking a few fps off me too.

All in all your performance is good, and like we were saying you could get better performance when you OC your CPU and GPU. Good luck, oh and don't forget you are going to need an aftermarket CPU cooler to OC.

Yeah, definately. I've been eyeing the Evo 212 for a while, I'll look into that. Thanks for the help guys.

No problem good luck, I was going to get the EVO, but then I got the Zalman because the performance is similar and it takes up less space
