i think my ram isn't right

hi all, this seems like a super beginner question but i'm a bit perplexed. i have to 4gb ddr3 1600 sticks, the kit is rated at 1600 but when i test, or go to cpu-z it says 800 for each! i went into the bios to double check and it's in xmp and says 1600 so...... is this right? if not what should i do, they are gskill ram and the mobo is a sabertooth z77.

DDR = Double Data Rate
It runs at 800MHz but the data rate is running at 1600MT/s internally. That is how DDR works.

uhm..
you mean 2 x 4gb 1600 right?..
running dual channel 800 x 2 = 1600
so 800 is correct. CPU-Z will give you the actual clock speed, not the DDR equivalent

Wrong, the data-rate is doubled regardless of the amount of sticks and channels.

ok thanks, i thought this was the case but wasn't totally sure, figure might as well ask that way if the memory is dead i could rma, thankfully i don't have to.
