7950 lower fps that 7770?

That's right I just picked up a 7950 3gb thinking it would see me run bf4 on ultra but no the fps on just high seem worse than the 7770? On shanghai the fps were around 20 when it got busy, with the 7770 it never really dropped below 30.

Any ideas on where I'm going wrong?

if its oc's then turn it down to stock. if its not oc'd then bump the cpu to 4.0ghz if you have the cooling.
did you install new drivers? you still need to run the installer even when you change cards from the same manufacturer it will update your current driver to run the 7950.

where did you get this 7950 is it second hand? And is all your software up to date?

My CPU Is o/c to 4.0, is it really worth trying stock settings?

I did a driver delete and installed the new beta's and also tried the latest official release too

Yep both power connectors are installed and yes it is a second hand unit.

I get higher fps in heaven but bf4 now runs like crap

Hmm could be a dodgy card but I doubt it very much, I've bought I few 2nd hand cards and always been fine

I've just dropped my CPU o/c to stock and see if that makes a difference

Reverting back to the stock CPU clock and no difference, the load on the card seems to be low, around 40% in bf4? I think this must be a software issue or dare I say it a bad card

sounds like its bottlenecking... i means set the gpu to stock clocks and oc the cpu to see if you get a difference.
chances are its bottlenecking because of the screen size. its rare but can happen... so try with a bigger screen if you can get your hands on 1.

Ok I just run heaven maxed out at the above res and scored 1230 with a average fps of 48.8. That seems fine to me comparing to other scores on similar systems ?

Your card doesn't seem to be the problem.

The mantle drivers are known to be buggy as hell. Maybe roll back and download catalyst 13.12 whql?

Update BIOS? Have you tried this? See if you have the lates BIOS driver. If not, I'll bet that's your problem.

Right, well I've had no joy really, I think the CPU might be bottlenecking? As the gpu load is low?
