Hey friends! So the time has come for me to build my new rig! I have a good idea of what I want in it, but I've been out of the loop in terms of PC components for a while, so I was hoping you guys guys recommend/review my rig and possibly give some recommendations! :)

OS: Win7/Win8. Can't really decide here, I much prefer Windows 7 but I'm not sure if there are differences in gaming performance.

MB: This is where I'm most uncertain. I want a full ATX that's solid for gaming. No plans to overclock. Possible SLI in the future. Was looking at the Asus Z87-A.

CPU: i7-4770K or i5-4670K

RAM: 16GB. Any recommendations for make and frequency? Is 1600hz decent or should I look at faster? Also, what are "timings"?

GPU: I'm pretty set on the GTX 780Ti. Which company makes the best, and are there any alternatives? At this moment in time I would prefer to overlook any kind of SLI setup.

HDD: 1TB at 7200RPM with a possible SSD.

PSU: not phased, anything that can run my components.

Also i don't think i stated it earlier, but this rig is purely focused on GAMING! :D

Thanks in advance everyone!

for gaming i5 is best but if u can afford then i7
if not ocing then why r u buying k versions they r for ocing
better learn about ocing
for now no need to oc but in future u may need to oc
that mobo is good enough
780ti is good but if u r running single monitor then 780 is enough
if sli u will need 800w+ psu buy 850w psu of good brand like xfx antec or seasonic

Solution
- WIin7 or 8, well, Win8 does show some improvement in gaming but Win8 has issues in user friendlyness.
- the mobo is ok, I like Hero VI more tho'
- i7 4670k should be already enough, about the i7 4770k... there are discussion about having more threads to be more future proof, but I can not see the future. I say, it is more like a gamble. It is your choice.
- 16GB is not really necessary but if you still hvae budget, why not. 1600MHz should enough, games like faster latency (timming) than higher MHz.
- 780Ti is ok
- An SSD is optional but it will add a massive performance improvement (no extra fps tho')
- hmm..for SLI..I recommend something about at least 750W from well known brand like Seasonic, Antec, Corsair, XFX, etc.

i just got this psu for my new rig, its more than enough powere and for only 100 bucks!
Antec HCG M HCG-850M 850W ATX12V

As far as GPU you really don't need to spend that much if you are playing games. a 770 will run any game on ultra.

Thanks for the replies everyone! I've learned not to go for the K version of the CPU if im not OC-ing xD

I'm looking at playing on a single monitor of about 25" or so (not 100% on the actual available sizes) and I want to be able to max out any current and future game (for a while at least) and still get high FPS. Will this rig cover that?

If the monitor is using only FullHD resolution, GTX770/780Ti will handle all todays games easily on Ultra.
If the monitor has a 4K resolution, I do not think so.
Monitor's size does not effect GPU, only monitors' resolution does...and 3D features..

Info:
If you are not OCing, consider to look at E3-1230V3. It is an i7 4770 (no-K) without the iGPU, and is almost as expensive as i5 4670k.
