Hi,

I have gigabyte GA-880GM-UD2H motherboard with 400 watts psu. I am planing to buy a ATI Radeon R7 240 DDR5 for gaming purpose. But I am not sure whether my motherboard supports Radeon R7 240.

Here is my current system specs

AMD Phenom X61055t 2.8ghz(6cores)
4gb ddr3 1333mhz
GA-880GM-UD2H motherboard

My question is can I use ATI Radeon R7 240 DDR5 card with my current configuration or do I have to change my motherboard also?

Your motherboard is fully compatible with any PCI Express graphics card.

Don't ever buy that overprice card(yeah its expensive for its perfromance) you should get a 7750 or better card.My 7730 gddr5 is even better than that card, which is more cheaper. So just go get a 7750/7770/gtx 750/r7 260x bottomline for gaming purposes just save up more and you won't regret it.Unless your display is a CRT monitor which can play current games @ medium-high quality with only gt 610.

To answer if it is compatible,YES it is,your mobo has PCI-E 2.0 x16 SLOT sufficient for one GPU,and the r7 240 only uses the power from the PCI-E 2.0 x16(no need for external/extra power from the PSU)

Thanks for reply,

I want to play games like Witcher 2, Sykrim, Borderlands 2 at 1366*768 resolution with medium - high settings with 30fps. The reason I chose this is because of 30watts power consumption and the gaming benchmarks look alright for these games. And I also dont want to buy extra cooler. So If I buy a 7730 gddr5 does it require extra cooler or power supply?

No,you will not need those extra cooler/power,but I reccomend 7750/gtx 750 this are the best card that doesn't use additional power from the PSU.I

7730 performance IMO

Witcher 2 1440x900 medium settings some lag
30fps+(dunno if its the gpu or just the lack of ram< I have only 2gb)

Skyrim 1440x900 high settings(40+fps) maybe a tweak ultra settings (27+fps)

Borderlans 2 dunno cause never played it,but the engine that the game uses is very optimized(UnrealEngine) so I think med-high settings with playable fps.
