Increase SSD's lifespan?

I read somewhere that the way windows 8 boots fast does more writes than any older OS and that putting your pc to sleep with hibernation mode off is healthier for the SSD than a complete system shut down.

I have a corsair Force gs 240GB and it is usually about 70% filled because i game with it. Is there a way to speculate its lifespan including reckless writes from windows & user? when should i be expecting it to lose its speed?

No whoever told you that needs to check their information windows 8 is the best so far when it comes to being SSD aware and modifying its behavior for that.. TRIM should more or less prevent speed loss as long as you have some free space(~10%) For the lifespan I think you should be fine.

This is correct.
However, I would add that you shouldn't expect the SSD to last as long as it's projected Flash Endurance, the controller is the more common point of failure and you should expect this class of Sandforce SSD to be reliable for 3-5 Years, though the performance shouldn't degrade throughout it's stable life.
If you start to see performance degrade abruptly all other things being equal that is a good sign that failure is imminent.
SSD rarely give you any warning, but that is one of the few sure signs.

3-5 years? ... Dude that's low... This thing costs 200$... Are you sure SSDs last only that long?

Yes unfortunately that's average for modern consumer SSD's. They are about as reliable as modern consumer hard drives, they just fail for different reasons.

Just my two cents but I think they are getting better as there are a couple with 5 year warranties now so from those 6+ wouldn't be unreasonable

Yes, you're right. The intel series with the sandforce controllers imo are the ones with the 5 year warranty. have the intel 530 myself. So i assume they last longer than that.

Those and the 840 Pro are the only ones I know for sure. They way I see it is that by the time my 840 EVO goes out in 4+ years (3 year warranty) I will either be getting a new sata express mobo or prices will have dropped enough to get one of those TB SSD (kinda how I used to think $20 for 1Gb Flash drive wasn't too bad)

Yes, you're right, some models are more reliable. Samsung does a good job, crucial(micron) does a good job, Intel is hit or miss(warranty is a good indicator).
On the opposite end of the spectrum, you've got the particularly unstable Sandforce Driven drives from OCZ and the 320 series from a generation back that where particularly bad, so there's a significant difference from model to model.

Yes they are generally considered good they are a newer sandforce controller with san disk NAND I would expect it to last towards the high end (5+ years). no guarantee though as that is just my opinion.

According to Samsung Magician, my "Max Performance"

Hibernation mode enabled to maximize restart and standby performance
Default settings of virtual memory is used
Indexing service/search is on to ensure fast search results
Superfetch is deactivated
Write Cache Buffer is enabled for better SSD performance
Write-Cache disabled
Power Options - Max performance
System Restore - Automatic backup is disabled to prevent slowing down system performance.

---

Maximum Reliability

Hibernation mode disabled because of writing
Virtual Memory limited
Indexing off

Btw, I read on the internet that SSDs will last for a long time. By the time it is supposed to die, you will move on to a newer and faster SSD.
