Low Profile Video card choice

Hi there,

I have an Acer slim tower with an i5 proc and would like to upgrade my low profile video card.

I currently use a GeForce GT 620 2GB, and am looking at these two:

Inno3D nvidia Geforce GT630 4GB

geforce gtx 750 ti

Tho I think they are, I'd like a confirmation that both are indeed low profile cards and better than what I got.

Of course, if you know of another better one I'm interested

considering the performance of gt 630 and the price of 750ti.
why not consider gtx 650?

You mentioned you need a low profile card. I think that is going to be your biggest challenge right there. I don't believe they make a 750/750Ti in a low profile, or even a GTX650 in low pro.

Also to consider, what is your power supply rating. You will need to know this if you intend to get an "upgraded" video card. Typically those slim PC's only have enough juice to run the from factory configuration.

Indeed, but Í'm not that knowledgeable when it comes to video cards, and I read this in the specs:

Memory Specs:
5.0 Gbps Memory Clock
1024 MB Standard Memory Config

I think it means it's a 1GB? : when I look it up it's advertised as "MSI GeForce GTX 650 1071MHz 1GB PCI-E 3.0 HDMI OC" for instance, whereas my GT 620 is a 2GB. Could you please explain how it is better ?

Yes, that's what I was afraid of, I keep reading advice to just change towers for a full size.
About the GTX 750 ti, I found sources that seem to confirm that Galaxy does a low profile version :

Basically I'd like to upgrade to the best possible low profile card as a new machine is currently not in my budget

It will all depend on what your current PSU can handle.

However, if you can manage a 750 or 750Ti in low pro that would be great. I just haven't seen any yet.

Alright, thanks a lot! I'll check my specs tonight and will post again, I admit I'm a bit lost on the topic.
And if I can ask a newbie question: how is the GTX 650 1GB better than my GT 620 2GB? I'd like to understand

For a single 1080p monitor, you do not need more than 1GB of memory on your video card. There are only a couple of games that could potentially use more than 1GB at 1080p. you dont measure performance based on this.

Here are the 750 and 750 ti slim (low profile) cards. They do look like they take up 2 slots though, but are the best low profile cards to date.
