So I just upgraded my PC's Motherboard, RAM, and Processor. I picked up a MSI H87-G43 MB, an Intel i5 processor, and 8GB of 1600 DDR3 RAM. My HD is a Western Digital Black 1TB and my video card is a Nvidia GTX 560. I'm no computer expert, but I certainly know enough to solve most simple issues and build my own PC's.

Anyway, ever since I installed my new hardware I've been having weird video game lag. I play WoW and Diablo 3. Basically, I log in and sometimes my MS is good, other times it's bad. I can run around and play with no lag at 600MS, then I get a 2 second lag spike, and back to normal. The lag is never constant, and my MS does't really reflect what is really going on. I can have 60 Home and World MS, and I'll be getting 2 second lag spikes every 15 seconds. Then I have 500 World MS and 250 Home MS, and it won't lag for 30 seconds. It's very confusing to me. Also, I have another computer on the same router that is having 0 latency or spike issues with the same games.

So here are the troubleshooting options I've already explored : Modem restart, router bipass, driver updates, network settings, windows firewall disabled, ESET Anti-virus disabled, leatrix latency fix, reinstalling the video games, task manager priority. That is just what I can think of, I've been all over my settings and have been on the internet trouble shooting. One of my buddies told me to try here, so here I am.

The reason I posted in MB forum section is because I think it is an internal PC issue. If my other computer is on the same network and not having issues, then my logic points me to my own rig. I checked my drivers for my Realtek LAN card. The model number is 8111E. My driver versions is 7.072. The date on that driver is 4-10-13. That is the driver that came in the MB driver CD. I also looked up the drivers on the MSI website, and it gave me the same one to download.

If any can give me any insight on this issue, I will have your babies. Thanks in advance!

UPDATE: I called MSI and they confirmed I have the latest drivers for the MOBO. He says the LAN is not set up for gaming, but that is shouldn't have an issue. Also, he thinks it is a WoW/D3 problem since my only noticeable issues are in game. I also forgot to mention that I did a complete reinstall of WoW last night, my download speed was over 4MB the entire time and it downloaded seamlessly.

UPDATE 2 - March 12th - 2:14 EST : I talked to Blizzard and had an online rep troubleshoot while I was in game. He says my Network card is showing up grey, not green. Which he says means the drivers are out of date or there is a hardware issue. Sent Realtek an email to try and find the latest drivers or known issues. If anyone has any information on a fix, please post.

When the motherboard is changed it is often necessary to re-install Windows from scratch, otherwise all manner of weird glitches will ensue, not least because the Windows Product ID in the registry no longer matches the hardware.

Only Windows Setup can create the Product ID based on the hardware it detects.

I had to reinstall Windows 7 when I put the new Mobo in. At first I just dragged the games from windows.old, but when I was having issues I did a fresh install of both games.
