Well I plan on building my first gaming pc. An exciting experience as well as a scary one! I have spent many hours researching how to build one and I have my parts picked out. I'm just worried that something in the build won't work with something else. I'm concerned about overheating and of one part will overpower another one. I will not be overclocking at first.
Build: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/38Afe
If you see ANYTHING wrong with the build please let me know. Or maybe a different suggestion with similar performance.
Note: I will not be switching out my video card. Only if you suggest a better model of the same card

Solution
this is better trust me. and also cheaper.

Solution
You could cut the PSU down to 750W. Also, if you want to overclock, you'll need an aftermarket cooler. I use and recommend the Xigmatek Gaia over the more often parroted but slightly inferior Hyper212 EVO:

http://www.techreaction.net/2011/11/27/review-cooler-master-hyper-212-plus/4/

Unlike the Hyper212 EVO (ignore the URL; it IS the EVO they tested), the Gaia never throttled, although it wasn't always the coolest depending on the fan used. Both got awards, but the Gaia is usually cheaper as well, making it the better choice. NZXT and Enermax also have 120mm tower-style coolers that may be even cheaper now, and offer similar cooling.

$500 for a 1TB SSD is a big waste of money. You'll better off getting a smaller SSD for the OS and a large storage hard drive. Just install 1-3 main games on the SSD and the rest on your storage hard drive.

There is absolutely nothing wrong or incompatible with your build.

I really like using a single ssd.
500gb may be enough, but if budget permits, go with 1tb.

cpu and graphics card are the best.

With a "K" suffix cpu, you will want at least a mild overclock.
You will want an aftermarket cpu cooler to make that easier.
A $30 cm hyper212 would be OK, but I would look at a Noctua or Phanteks cooler with 140mm fans.
They are about $75.

Faster ram will not be more expensive. Here is G.skil ares:

Your graphics card wants 42a on the +12v rails. 850w is a bit more than is appropriate.
You can use a Seasonic 650w unit for $105

At most 750w I think.
