My friend has a EMachine that has Win 7 on it. She bought it new. She can't remember if she got a system disk with it or it got lost when she moved. My Question is Can I copy her win 7 to a spare hard drive or a disk so that she can reinstall in case something happens to it. A backup system disk?

Yes, Windows 7 has a built-in utility that creates a system disk image for you, called Windows Backup.
Go to:
Control Panel --> Backup and Restore
and click on "Create a system image" at the upper left of the Backup and Restore window.

Windows has a built in image backup to make DVD's to install from. just do a system search for system image

It's more than just DVDs, you can create a system image to an external hard drive, it doesn't care. It's great, it's a byte-for-byte image of the entire C drive. You restore it, say if the hard drive failed, by booting up with a Windows 7 disk and doing a Restore from image. You can download an ISO file (DVD image) of Windows 7 from the Internet and burn it to a DVD. Let me know if you need the website.

You can use any license key on these Windows install disks. Whether or not it authenticates is between you and Microsoft.

Make sure you download and burn to DVD the right version. In other words, don't burn and try to install Windows 7 Ultimate if your friend has a license key for Windows 7 Home Premium. And make sure the bittedness is correct. "x86" is Microsoft-speak for 32-bit Windows, "x64" is obviously for the 64-bit variety.
