Hi, thanks for taking the time to read this.

I recently put together this PC: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/32ZTK

I made sure everything was connected properly and booted the computer up. The lights on the tower turned on, the keyboard's backlights lit up, and all the fans spun, including the ones on the GPU. However, my monitor which was plugged into the GPU showed "No signal." While looking at the monitor, the computer turned off by itself. I turned it back on and all the fans were spinning again and the case's power indicator was on, but the backlight of my keyboard didn't light up and I still had no signal to the monitor.

I moved the monitor's plug to the onboard and it still showed no signal. I moved the ram around with no success. Finally I disconnected the GPU and plugged the monitor in the onboard slot, and it booted just fine with the keyboard's LEDs lighting up again. The computer booted and I was able to install Windows. I then powered off and tried moving the GPU to my other PCI slots but they didn't work either. I also tried resetting the mobo, with no success.

I made sure that my GPU was properly powered with the PSU cables (8 pin and 6 pin plugged in), I moved the RAM around, but no success. I installed the OS from a flashdrive because I don't have a disc drive, then tried to install the NVidia drivers, but it doesn't let me do that without the GPU in.

Since all the other components are working fine and the PSU is pretty good (600w) I don't think there is an issue with it, although I could be wrong. I don't have another PSU to try so I may have to just buy a new one. I've heard that resetting the CMOS could work, and to check my LED connectors on the mobo. I will try these when I get off work today.

What do you think the issue is related to?

Solution
Solved the issue. The old BIOS drivers weren't compatible. I did a flash update (downloaded the new drivers on a flashdrive and installed them from the BIOS) and it solved my problem. My computer is working again :D

On booting with the onboard chip go into the bios and load default settings. It is equal to resetting cmos. Also make sure that you have installed the gpu correctly and you have tighten the screws to avoid loose connections.

Hmm. I reset the UEFI settings in the BIOS, I'm not sure if that is what you're talking about or if it's something completely different. The GPU is firmly in the slot, I'm fairy confident that a lose GPU isn't the issue.

First, unplug the GPU and attach the monitor to the onboard plugs so you can actually see stuff.
Go to your motherboards website and look for downloads. There should be a download link for a BIOS update (Here's how the page looked for my motherboard: http://www.asrock.com/mb/overview.asp?cat=Download&os=BIOS&Model=Z77%20Extreme3 )

You need put the update on a flashdrive and enter the BIOS with the flashdrive plugged in. There should be option in the BIOS to do a flash update. If your BIOS doesn't have an option to do it you may have to look it up on youtube.
Let me know if this wasn't clear and you need further instructions.
