Hi

I have recently bought Minecraft and have been playing on a lot of servers. However, chunks loading horrifically, I cant even see past a tiny village. I have my render distance set to 16 chunks but still can barely see past a village and let alone water. This really angers me because I have more than capable hardware to run this game on very far render distance but it still persists? Please I would be grateful for any help! Thanks

could you specify on what exactly your hardware is?
Check this website out on how to isolate more ram towards minecraft. This might help fix your problem. If that doesnt work try updating your java.

Try to dedicate 1 gb ram to minecraft and see if that makes a difference.

1gb RAM is dedicated to minecraft by default. Dedicating 2gb might give you slightly faster load times, but won't help much.

I suspect your internet is too slow to download the chunks fast enough, or the servers you are playing on are overloaded. Can you test your internet speed at speedtest.net, and possibly give me the name of a couple servers you have the problems with?

What's your experience like in a single player game on a newly created world? The more "stuff" a server has on it, the worse it will run on both your machine and the server itself. Minecraft is a very ram intensive game, ESPECIALLY for the server, it makes servers for like COD or BF look like trash.

This can also be due to your connection to the server, and if you're trying to play on a server in another country/state/region (i.e the westside of your country or the eastside of your country) you will experience slow chunk loading.
