Hello, I just joined tomshardware.com today so I can ask for help regarding my eyefinity setup. I have been doing the research, but I could not find a consistent answer for my problem. As of now, I have two current displays connected to my HD 7950, and have a third display coming at the end of this week. My displays will be 2, 22in displays, all the same size, same resolution at full HD, and the same company, Dell, the side monitors of my eyefinity setup. I have one display from HP that will be in the middle of my eyefinity setup, full HD, 22 inch size screen.

The problem I am facing will be that my HP display is currently connected via HDMI, and my Dell is connected via DVI-D port. The 2nd Dell monitor coming will have to be connected via displayport as far as I can tell. The problem is that the Dell monitors only have VGA and DVI-D ports. How would I be able to use the 3rd monitor by displayport? Would I need to use an adapter to connect displayport to VGA or DVI-D? And what kind of adapter?

System specs just for anyone's interest is FX-6300, CrossfireX HD 7950, 8GB 1866 MHZ DDR3 RAM (will be getting more in a few weeks), 1 TB HDD, 500GB SSD.

Don't use VGA its analog, this causes problems, but the rest is perfect for your setup. The adapters need to be active (DP/MiniDP) to DVI and if you only have only one displayport and want more than 3 displays you will need a hub that matches your (DP/MiniDP) port on your card(There is more than one type of displayport type ie.....1.1,1.1a, and 1.2). I hope this answers your question.

you will want to get a mst hub to avoid screen tearing.
the 7950 stutters a bit when you multi monitor out of different types of ports.

i ended up going with 2 startech DisplayPort to Dual HDMI Multi Monitor Adapter M/F - DP to 2x HDMI 3840x1200 to run 4 monitors from my setup.

i had been running each monitor from its own output on the card but was having a lot of issues with tearing.
the hub i got with a dp to hdmi adaptor on the other displayport will work out great for you.
there are 3 output mst hubs available as well

running 2 asus ve278q from each display port hub eliminated the problems. as soon as put something else in the dvi or hdmi output it starts tearing again.
