Game settings vs. GPU settings

Hi everyone. I have a question about graphics in gaming. I currently am running a GTX 770 and when I go into NVidia control there is an option to allow the application to determine graphics or the GPU. What do others on this forum choose and why? Thanks.

I do everything manually. Sometimes (for instance on several indie games) I've seen the auto-choose miss its mark. It would sometimes choose random options just because the game was early access and not optimized even though manually setting my graphics to max still got me good fps. What you should ask yourself is do you really need an extra program to choose for you? It's just a waste of space if you ask me. Once you figure out what all the settings really do, its easy to tweak them to your liking manually
