Hey so my CPU fan is just having issues and I've decided to just get a nice cooler like I had intended to do at the start and of my CPU. I don't really have a budget so money isn't an issue but I don't need something too overly expensive. If someone has a great review for a specific one on new egg that would be great. I'm currently running:
Intel i7 4770k 3.5ghz
Nvidia geforce 770
16gb corsair ram

I have the Hero board and the same RAM you have. Your issue is going to be that you will need a cooler that can at least allow the 2 sticks of RAM you currently have to clear the cooler. You probably won't be able to use the other 2 slots unless you moved to low profile RAM. In that case, I'd recommend something like this. It's similar to the thermalright cooler I have and will cool just about as good as any high end cooler with a single fan.

So this is my first custom rig I've built so I'm not super familiar with everything. But I do understand that some cases don't have enough room for certain CPU coolers. How do I measure this? From my mobo to the end of my case? I have a Phantom NZXT case as well as a ASUS Maximus Hero VI mobo to put it into perspective.

Ah, I get what you guys are saying. Though low profile was something else but you are talking about how big the ram sticks are. That's unfortunate, I wish I could get the low profile ram but I don't want to purchase another set of ram. Thanks for the info guys.

It's fine as long as your cooler is relatively slim and not a dual fan/cooler monster. Mine just fit with the cooler and fan. Keeps everything decently cooler actually. The Hasewells have that wierd OC ceiling per chip that you will or may hit. I know mine was 4.3 and no matter what voltage or setting change I threw at it, it wasn't stable even though the temps were more than fine. Some people luck out and get in the upper 4GHz range.
