have you power cycled the gateway wit hthe back up battery removed to make sure it has the newest updates from the isp?? in the modem/gateway look at your signal strength and power levels. if there too low or to high they can cause an issue. look in your home if it an older home that the router on the first splitter coming into your home and check your splitters older ones will block the digital signal a cable modem needs. also check the wire to your home for damage and age. the newest version of that modem is the http://www.arrisi.com/products/product.asp?id=79
try if the cable company has it to try a new one or another type of hardware to see if it the modem.
are you plugged into the modem itself?? if you are look at the modem and google it info on line. most high speed cable modems need to be newer docis 3.0 that does cable bonding. if it a dsl modem with dsl it depends on your phone line and distance from the the phone company equipment. if your using a router between the modem and pc. you need a n card that does 300 or more speed and a n router to see fast speeds from a wifi set up. also make sure no ones leaching your bandwith. turn on a wpa password.
