Like so many on here I am having a problem booting up Win7 on my L655 Toshiba laptop. No matter what--Safe Mode, Repair Mode, all leads back to a dark screen and white arrow cursor. I tried all my installation and recovery disks--3 specifically for my Toshiba laptop and 1 for windows. None of them are being read. The main error message I originally got was "unmountable boot volume." So I got out the the recovery disks and not one worked. So answers on here that say once you boot up with the disk, then pick the language hahahahaha, I never get that far. It says downloading windows files then dark screen and white arrow again. Tried using my TV monitor to see if I could read anything from there, wasn't a backlight/monitor problem.

I've had a lot of trouble when I shut down. Updates get interrupted because this laptop goes into sleep mode quickly. Have a feeling something only partially downloaded and I can't get the thing running again even with the recovery disks to fix it. Now what? Take it in to the Geek Squad and pay them to get the discs they made for this to work?

If I can't boot up, using the disks, or even a command prompt, I can't fix it either.

I would like to jump in here. I am having the same problem and yes the LED lights and such all stay on. Cannot get machine to boot from CD/DVD disk drive, cannot access windows in order to check quick boot, etc etc etc..It will not boot in safe, repair or any mode. It jumps back to the black screen and white cursor. When I start normally, it acts like it wants to boot into Win7, then jumps to the the dreaded black screen....Any other suggestions???
