I'm looking to upgrade and I'm deciding between these two cards. I play at 1080p and usually play first person shooters. Would the 270x be enough or should I go with the 280x.

More about : 270x 280x

this link will give you a comparison of 280x vs 270x
http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/MSI/R9_270X_HAWK/19....
for most games the 270x would be enough but games like crysis 3 bf4 splinter cell black list (titanfall?)
you may want a 280x to get the best performance and settings

The Gigabyte R9 280X REV2 http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00H34J64M would allow you to play all current games at ultra settings.

The R9 270X would only be able to easily handle games at high to ultra settings depending on the game. These settings are assuming you want a minimum of 40fps.

considering it is rated as 250w power consumption and the rest of your system is 156w for intel and 197w for amd
is a max of 450 for either system and the hive has 552w on its 12v rail
and your psu has 2x 6+2 pins so it looks like your good to go

Here's a video of my 280x playing Metro on BF4. The CPU is at 3.9, video card stock. Video settings are Ultra except 2x msaa, AA post Low and SSAO

Neither the CPU or video card is overclocked. The monitor runs at 75 hz.

Thanks for all the responses

Do you have any recommendations for a certain 280x brand or model? I have a Sapphire card now and was looking at the Dual-x or Vapor-x

I'll probably just wait to see if there are any deals or prices drop a bit over the next month or so.

all of them are similar it really comes down to the cooler and the factory clocks it comes with. but if you are partial to sapphire i would go with their flagship...the toxic

to my knowledge it is the best one of aall the 280x's
