I am trying to reinstall windows vista on an hp desktop. It's relatively slow when it boots off the disk, but when I get to "where do you wanna install the OS" I don't see no disk partitions, like the drivers are not installed. I downloaded the driver from the website and tried to load it but I can't find it on my flash drive when browsing through it

Help please!!

In your BIOS settings, if you have a setting marked AHCI, change it to IDE then try installing again. The system might then be able to "see" the harddisk.

There was no such option. What I did was buying a new sata hard drive, replaced it, but all i am getting is a black screen with a white cursor. I try entering the bios or doing other options but as as i hit any key it takes me straight to that black screen. any thoughts??

Yet you got into BIOS to look for the AHCI setting. Does it still do that if you have a bootable CD or DVD in the drive?
