Hi, I have a gigabyte ga78lmt-usb3 and want to control my fan speeds. My fans are connected to the 4 pin case fan header via a 3pin fan splitter so I can plug in my rear rosewill 80mm fan and the front 120mm rosewill fan. The fans run at 100% and after a month of having my pc by my ear, I have grown tired. I am 13 years old, so keep in mind I cannot buy to much easy, and both fans don't have molex connectors (80mm doesn't, 120mm's wire snapped) Voltage regulator? I have my auto fan speed disabled in bios (case fan, not cpu) and speedfan doesn't work.

Here are my specs:
Ga78lmt-usb3
rosewill ranger m
corsair cx430
using onboard gpu, getting r7 260x next month
fx 4300
4gb pny optima ddr3 1333mhz
2tb wd green
cd/dvd r/w drive

I looked around for some reviews of that akust, and the few I found weren't all that great. It seems to work, but you get what you pay for. Either way, they all pretty much work the same, you plug one 4 pin molex into the back of the controller, then plug your fans into the headers behind the dials. If you want to be able to monitor the speed of the fan through windows, you can get an adapter that connects to the motherboard, otherwise you just turn the knob to adjust the fan.

When you disable the "auto fan speed" setting in BIOS your fans will run at a set speed 100% by default (you may not be able to change that). Also, since you are using a splitter there may be issues with reporting the RPM (spin speed) and why SpeedFan doesn't work.
Try connecting just one of the fans to the header, either the 80mm or the 120mm and see if it is recognized in SpeedFan and if you can change the speed, if so then you know the splitter is causing issues. If you are crafty and have a soldering iron you could craft a molex to 2pin adapter using scraps of wire; look up the ATX standard for Molex connectors and you will find there is a +5v lead, +12v lead, and 2 ground wires.

Hi, thanks for the answer. I can currently only control the 3 cpu fan via speed fan. I will try using 1 fan now. I enabled all the fan control options in the bios and will try not using the splitter. Hopefully it works.

I tried that, and the only fan I can control is the cpu fan. I will try without the splitter.

Just to be clear, do the fans you're trying to control only have 3 pins, or is it just your splitter? If the fans themselves are not 4 pin fans, you will not be able to change the speed without manipulating the voltage, either with an inline resistor or with a fan controller.

Both the fan and the splitter are 3 pin.. It is still a no go, and I don't think it will work. Will this do the job? I am tired of using the onboard amd 760g! Can't wait till I get my new gpu.

How is this: http://www.amazon.com/Pins-Noise-Reduction-Cable-Cooling/dp/B007PPHKO2/ref=sr_1_10?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1394682667&sr=1-10&keywords=3+pin+power+cable+fan+speed

Can you recommend something off of amazon that could control 2 fans? I will be getting a nzxt source 210 elite sometime in maybe the next 6 months, so maybe more fans, but if cheaper, 2 is fine.

I would go with this one: http://www.amazon.com/Sunbeamtech-PL-RS-6-Rheosmart-Fan-Controller/dp/B004LKZESI/ref=sr_1_59?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1394683564&sr=1-59&keywords=fan+controller. You'll be able to hook up all of the fans that would fit in that 210 elite, and still have a spot for the CPU cooler. There is also this http://www.amazon.com/Akust-5-25-Bay-Six-Controller/dp/B00GOXD1EY/ref=sr_1_165?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1394683628&sr=1-165&keywords=fan+controller, but I personally wouldn't get one from a lesser known brand with no reviews just to save 12 bucks.
