So currently in my Desktop rig i am running 2x GeForce 1gb GTS 450 in SLI mode with a triple monitor set up with 24/32/24 all running at 1920x1080. I have been debating a single 2gb card which would be better? also with some of the singles i have been also looking at future Crossfire or SLI.

In some instances it's better to run SLI/Crossfire then to buy a new card, as long as you have a good enough PSU though. However in your situation we need to know how much you are willing to pay for this 2gb card that you may buy.

I would say if you are debating a third GTS 450 vs a newer card, I would get a newer card. SLI configs are not flawless, and the more cards you add, the more the return diminishes. A third card won't give you 3x the performance, more like 2.6x the performance, maybe a little more, maybe a little less. At this point, I would just get rid of/sell/remove your old cards and get a shiny new card.
