Newegg has the 780 Classified at $529. I could get a couple of different types of R9 290's around 470. I'm not sure which would be the best best.

System
i5 3570k
8gig Ram
Asrock z77 extreme 4 mobo
2 x 1080p monitors

I know the R9 290 has 4 GB mem while the 780 has 3 GB. Not sure if its worth paying more for the 780 or going with the r9 290

I would say these cards are pretty equal and just go for the one that is worth less. Gtx 780 runs cooler and wastes less power. R9 290 is better in terms of preformance, but runs hotter and eats up more power. Both have pro and cons and I guess you will have to decide what is more important to you as every case is different. I recommend the r9 290 becuase of pricing and my preformance base.

Nope I don't plan on water cooling any of my cards. Generally going to run them as they come. Maybe a bit of an overclock but on the coolers they come with.

Where are you looking? I am looking mostly on Newegg or Amazon really. I'm not looking at the Mail in Rebates though. I'm doing this before rebate price. The Classified is $509 after Rebate but I don't like to factor in rebates due to getting those later.

don't get a 290, they absolutely suck, I had an xfx 290 black edition ( DD cooler) and it bloody sucked balls. HDMI was glitchy and DX9 performance was terrible not to mention it got incredibly hot to the point I had to strap 2 120mm case fans to it!

I love my classified card. They re NOT just for waterblocks. I have my 780ti classy on air and staying cool with gpu boost at 1400mhz clock and memory +100mhz over stock I think. It runs fantastic and stays nice and cool on air and I just loaded in a custom bios with unlocked voltage. I buy nothing but the classified models of these cards.
