I have recently made the decision to re-arrange my case fans.I have a Z11-Plus case from Zalman. In the case I have 4 fans (Dis-including the cpu fan). I have 1 120mm front intake, 1 rear 120mm exhaust, 1 120mm top exhaust and 1 140mm top exhaust. I was wondering if I would see better temps or in fact any benefit front putting the 140mm fan up front. The existing front fan is 1400 rpm and I always have it at full just to have some circulation. But it is so loud. I wondering because the 140mm fan is only 1000rpm and larger I would get more air into the case and at the same time be quieter?

Solution
Hi
Moving the fans about will not alter the total volume of air being moved through the case, however with you having more exhaust than intake some of the air will be being pulled from various holes in the case.
If you move the 140mm to the front and reduce the speed of the 120 you will make it quieter and also improve the airflow from front to back of the case which should improve cpu and mobo cooling slightly.
