Hi, I'm looking to upgrade to a AMD Phenom x4 9950 as I've found a cheep one on ebay.

My Mobo socket is AM2 and just wondering if there is anything better that will fit it?

I currently have a Athlon x2 64 6000+ ( Old I know ).

On ebay I've found one for £40, is it worth it?

I want it to last me atleast a few months until I can afford a bigger PC upgrade since ATM I can't afford anything else

I'm sure this is the one I have http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/M3A/

( I think it is because the color, ram slot colors, Pci/Pcie slots and sata slots are in the same places/same colors as mine, sorry if it's not much help )

There should be a model number somewhere on the board. Looking at that link, it would be by the ram slots if it is the same board. If it is the same board, a 9950 won't work. To be perfectly honest, I wouldn't go and stick any money into such an old machine. Even a lowly haswell pentium G would be faster than a Phenom x4.

I know it's old but I can't really afford much else. Buying new Mobo/CPU/RAM is way too costy for me atm atleast

Save up some more and get this to start. Buying the Phenom would be a waste of money.
