I am intending to get a system in a mini-itx case and the one I like only comes with a 180W PSU. Could anyone advise if 180W is sufficient for:

- Gigabyte H87N motherboard and i7-4770 processor
- 2 X 8GB DDR 3 RAM
- 1 256 GB SSD
- 1 2TB 7200 RPM harddisk
- 1 DVD-RW burner?

Thanks in advance!

Thanks. I was looking at this casing http://www.thermaltake.com/products-model.aspx?id=C_00001941, it says that the PSU is 80 PLUS bronze certified - would that be good enough?

Will losing the harddisk or the optical drive or both help a lot? Which one would take up more power?

thanks again

Hmm don't have that as I'm trying to see if it's feasible before ordering the system. Anyone happen to have experience with this case and PSU?

Thanks. Does downgrading to an i5 processor make a lot of difference in terms of power consumption? Was thinking of doing that if it means I can use this mini casing.

If you're looking for mini casing then there are a load of other options out there, which I think look better,
Just one of many would be the Corsair 250D, but if you are set on using this certain case, then down-grading to the i5 would save power.

But I still think you would be better choosing a different case, but that's just my opinion.

Thanks for the recommendation. Are there any other cases which are similar to the width of the Thermatake (i.e. around 10 to 15cm) but which have more powerful PSUs?

Well, usually these types of cases don't have a power supply that comes with the case.
I wouldn't recommend the PSU that comes with the thermaltake case anyway.

Here is a list of small-form factor cases.
