My curent rig:

i7 2700k @ stock
8 gb ddr3 @ 1333 mhz
Asus Maximus Gene V Z77 - my mobo has 3.0 pci but sandy is only 2.0.
1x GTX 760 MSI OC 4 GB
Samsung 32" LED 100 Mhz @ FullHd

I've put my video card in the second video slot because of my case ( Bitfenix Prodigy M, my PSU is very long and they will hit, who has it / know the case will understand, i really like the case, don't want to change it)

My questions:

1. Will i loose any gaming fps if i use the video card in the 2nd slot? in gpu-z 0.7.7 it shows it runs in 8x at 2.0 and after a few seconds it shows 1.1.

2. In the future if i upgrade, what will be my limit with no real botthleneck in the 2nd video slot?
For example/reference, what can i use now with no botteneck? GTX 780 ti ? R9 290x ? etc

3. How powerful is my 2700k at stock speeds? again what is the maximum video card / combinations that my cpu can handle? Even SLI/CF setups.

Any imput is of great help.
Thank you.

1. That's normal behavior. There should be a "?" next to where it says what your pcie specs, click it and run the render test.
It should ramp the card up to the slots max pcie speeds.

pcie 2.0 @ 8x is fine, you are loosing something like 1-2% speed in comparison to a full 3.0 @ 16x.

With your cpu, sky is the limit currently with gpu's. sli gtx 780 ti's is not an issue, might hafta overclock though.

The 2700k is top of the line still, and overclocked will serve you well for many a year to come.
