I am planning to build the following and was hoping everything was compatible. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

CPU: Intel Core i3-4130 3.4GHz Dual-Core Processor

Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-H87M-HD3 Micro ATX LGA1150 Motherboard

Memory: Crucial Ballistix Sport 8GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3-1600 Memory

Storage: Western Digital BLACK SERIES 2TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive

Video Card: PNY GeForce GTX 660 2GB Video Card

Case: Lian-Li PC-V2120X ATX Full Tower Case

Power Supply: Antec TruePower Classic 650W 80+ Gold Certified ATX Power Supply

Optical Drive: Asus DRW-24B1ST/BLK/B/AS DVD/CD Writer

Sound Card: Asus Xonar DSX 24-bit 192 KHz Sound Card

This will be a family PC. We do a fair bit of video and photography editing... and with a son turning 7 soon I would imagine there will be increasing game time in the near future.

Thumbs up... or down on the system?

Hi,
-Everything is compatible, but you don't need that giant of a case. I assume it is from previous build or a gift, because the case is only $400.
-There are many great mATX or Mid ATX cases for $50-$80. IF you want i can give you some recommendations.
-Also the system doesn't need 650W PSU, a 450W PSU will be more than enough for those components.

Thank you for the thumbs up on the components... and yes, I used to have a "Lian-Li thing" a few years back and have a couple of cases hanging around. I will gladly downsize the power supply, but is there any scenario where the 450W source might come up a little short?

Since I have your ear, is there anything I can do to this system to keep it quiet? My last build 6-8 years ago sounds like a DC-9 taxiing.

Thanks for the go ahead on the components!

Would you have any suggestions on what I might do to keep this system as quiet as possible?

Any scenario where the 450W will ''fail'' lets say, will be in future upgrade, where some of your kids will want more powerful graphics card or better processor. For best results for now and future upgrades, a solid 550w power supply will be enough even for the more power hungry graphics cards in the future. There is an offer on Newegg i think for $59 you can get XFX 550w, pretty solid PSU for the money.

About quietness, it all depends on the case. Yes maybe the graphics card will be little bit noise under load, but if it is in good and solid case, the noise will be minimal. Also some PSUs may be noisy if not cleaned properly, the fan on the PSU may collect dust and produce humming or blowing noise. I am sorry i am not very familiar with the Lian-Li case and i don't know how good sound insulation has.

There is no sound insulation on my Lian-Li's. They are essentially aluminum boxes... resonating bodies, like a guitar or cello.

My fans definitely get dusty. I need to incorporate some sort of filter screen for the inflow. The Corsair suggested by ModernWarfare looks like it might have such a screen, so I need to study it and similar cases.

Here is a suggestion for quiet and very solid build case.

Swedish made, sleek look, high quality, with sound insulating foam on the front and side panels, plenty of space, plenty of HDD and SSD cages, modular HDD and SSD cages, rubberized grommets. I think it is $99, while the windowed version is $110
