Hello guys, I have 3 HDDs in my PC:

- SSD (MBR) @ 120GB (Windows)
- SATA 3 (MBR) @ 2TB (Software, Movies...)
- SATA 3 (GPT) @ 4TB (Series, Music...)

The problem comes when I try to install Windows 8 on SSD. If I have the SATA drives connected, not let me install Win 8 (Error:0x80300001) but if I disconnect the SATA disks, and can install Win 8.

The error:

What is the problem when you install Windows 8?.

This is my PC:

Asus Crosshair IV Formula
AMD Phenom II 1090T X6 3.2Ghz 125W AM3 Black Edition Box
Samsung SSD 840EVO SSD 120GB
WD Caviar Green 1TB SATA2 64MB
WD Caviar Green 4TB SATA3 64MB
Sapphire Radeon HD 6850 1GB GDDR5
G.Skill Ripjaws DDR3 1600 PC3-12800 8GB 2x4GB CL7
Sony AD-5260S-0B Recorder DVD SATA 24x

More thanks!.

commonly asked questions about GPT from Microsoft

"Q. What about mixing and matching GPT and MBR disks on the same system?

A.
GPT and MBR disks can be mixed on systems that support GPT, as described earlier. However, you must be aware of the following restrictions:
•Systems that support UEFI require that boot partition must reside on a GPT disk. Other hard disks can be either MBR or GPT.
•Both MBR and GPT disks can be present in a single dynamic disk group. Volume sets can span both MBR and GPT disks."

There are about three answers to your question.

1. Did you swap out the windows install disk for a driver disk and forget to put the windows install cd back in the drive to continue setup?

2. The interface mode in the bios is set to Sata mode.

3.Before you begin to install windows make sure you have the driver cd for the motherboard. If you look it says load driver.

Find the driver for the sata chip set for the board, off the mobo cd and install first before trying to install windows to the selected hard drive.

Once the driver has loaded make sure you put the windows in stall cd in the drive and continue setup by selecting the drive you wish to install windows 8 to then click next.

Thanks for the info but i don't have UEFI BIOS in my PC. I think the problem comes from the 4TB drive I have in GPT, before this i didn't have the disk of 4TB and i didn't have problems installing Win 8. If i disconnect this disk, can install Win 8 normally.

Interferes something that is GPT?

Before this i didn't have the disk of 4TB and i didn't have problems installing Win 8. Now have the disk of 4TB in GPT and have this problem.

Thanks.

have you tried installing to the first drive partion listed in the picture, or could you rearrange them so that the drive you are trying to install to is listed as drive 0 as seen in the picture?

Because the boot drive needs to be GPT if you wish to use additional GPT drives. You are trying to install to a MBR drive. You can only mix MBR with GPT when the boot drive is GPT.

Then, you should have all units in GPT for install Win 8.1 without errors, no?.

No. They don't "all" have to be GPT, you can mix, but if you do, the boot drive that you install Windows on MUST be GPT.

it will error if you install on a disk with an mbr, because a gpt partition contains its own mbr
