So, here we go. Im working on a computer using a private network. when I hook up wired or wirelessly, the icon at the bottom (windows 7) shows im connected. When i go to access the internet it says can not display this web page. Naturally i go to CMD and do a ping command to google. Comes back request timed out. I have gone to my network adapter settings and check the ipv4/6 conifgurations and they are both set up to automatic. I go back to cmd and I di ipconfig /all. It brings back my ip address default gateway ect ect. I try to ping the default gateway but that doesnt work. The internet is fine as im using a computer on the same network to type this question. any thoughts?

Oh and im using a virus scanner to check for malicious software, and i used hijack this to make sure there were no issues in there. How ever that did come back with a
O10: Uknown file in Winsock LSP c:\program files(x86)\common files\microsoft shared\windows live\wlidnsp.dll

but that doesnt seem like an issue to me. but i figured id share.
thanks for any suggestions!

Only 2 come to mind. Check control panel, internet options, connection, lan settings, make sure use proxy server box in un-checked. At the command prompt type: netsh winsock reset catalog and press [Enter].
Next type: netsh int ip reset reset.log and press [Enter].
Restart your PC for the changes to take effect.

I did try both of these options. but alas no avail. From what it looks like everything is set up as it should. I'll be reinstalling IE completely and repost with results. If anyone else has an idea though please throw them my way! :D
