Cpu: AMD FX(tm)-8150 Eight-Core Processor 3.6 GHz
Ram: 8 GB
Video Card: AMD Radeon 7850 2 GB
Motherboard: Sabertooth FX 990 2.0

I can run most games pretty good with my pc, but in some games I can't max out the graphics because fps is dropping. What of the above do I need to improve to get better performance?

Also, can I simply add another video card instead of replacing my current one?

The 7870 looks fine. Can I have both the video cards on my computer? Or would I replace the 7850 with the 7870? Won't having 2 graphics cards double the performance? Sorry if the question is stupid btw, you could call me a newbie on this kind of stuff.

if you are willing to spend more i would just go with maurelie's suggestion with the r9 270x (or the cheaper/ lower model: r9 270) but it depends on what you want to play. in regards to using two cards at once it is possible but its recommended to use the same card for both slots because its an imbalance in performance (you can only use one card per monitor...to my knowledge).
