Hi everyone, my pc has an Asus ME LE 2.0 mobo, FX4100 cpu, 500w psu, a single stick of 8gb Corsair RAM, 2 500gb HDDs and a synergy edition Geforce GTX 660.
I have the net connected via ethernet, an nzxt phantom 410 case with 3 extra fans on it.

Now my problem is, the geforce experience optimises my games like SKyrim, DayZ, Wow and AC: Black Flag to the highest settings.

But when I play on those reccomended settings the fps becomes unbearable, DayZ drops to around 10/15 fps WoW to just under 20 same for Skyrim and AC, whats the cause of this and what can I upgrade to make it so I can play on these settings smoothly.

Cheers

As said above, try applying the settings manually, this could be a problem with the GeForce experience software. Be aware that AC: Black Flag is not a particularly well optimized game, and you shouldn't expect framerates above 30 to 40 FPS in crowded areas at the highest settings with your card.

You may also want to use a program like HWMonitor and check your temperatures, the poor performance may be the result of either your graphics card or CPU overheating, and throttling back performance as a result.

Another possibility may be that you have a CPU bottleneck causing the poor performance. All of the games you have listed are heavily CPU bound titles that are largely dependent on single threaded performance. The FX 4100 has rather...

Another possibility may be that you have a CPU bottleneck causing the poor performance. All of the games you have listed are heavily CPU bound titles that are largely dependent on single threaded performance. The FX 4100 has rather poor single threaded performance, and may cause a severe bottleneck in those games. To test for a CPU bottleneck, use something like MSI Afterburner to monitor your GPU usage while playing, also monitor your CPU usage. If your GPU usage is not hitting 99% or around there, and you have your CPU maxing out 1 or more cores, then you do have a CPU bottleneck. If you do have a CPU bottleneck, all you can do to alleviate it is overclock your CPU (which may not help too much with a Bulldozer chip), or get a better CPU.
