so i have another problem which i cant solve, im running an

EVGA GTX 770/ACX cooling @ 2GB

AMD fx8120 @ 3.1 OC to 4.00

850watt psu

16GB of ram

i should really be beasting this game, but all wants to do is lag horrifically, on some maps in diff areas it will stay at a solid 60 and then it will drop to 20-30 FPS. i dont really understand whats happening tbh... on my old EVGA GTX 660 TI from what i can remember the game was solid and didnt lag at all but now all it ever wants to do is lag :( any solutions or fixes would be much appreciated.

P.S my PC is extremely cool when playing games so its not a heat thing

thanks in advance

Install MSI Afterburner, load the OSD for GPU/CPU/vram etc. usage, then track it while playing. http://www.guru3d.com/files_details/msi_afterburner_beta_download.html

Others poo poo this (they assume everyone should be an expert at knowing what drivers they need), but use Slimdrivers to make sure you have all the latest drivers. https://www.slimwareutilities.com/index.php

The game itself may be corrupted, but you reinstalled it, correct?

Did you use DDU to...
You are likely experiencing bottlenecking. The 8120 is not a very good CPU in games like BF3, as it is not heavily threaded. When you upgraded your GPU, it likely choked the CPU. Try lowering the "Mesh Quality" graphics setting, which controls how far away you can see spotted players, and see if the framerate drops go away, or are at least alleviated a little. If the framedrops stop or get better, then you have a classic CPU bottleneck on your hands.

Edited.
There is no bottleneck. He should be getting well over 75 FPS easily. I used and still have a 965be that ran BF3 fine, and even runs BF4 well. There is no way his setup should be dropping to 20-30 FPS.

Either the drivers/OS are not installed properly, or the hardware is defective or not installed correctly.

That isn't necessarily true. If the OP is running mesh quality at high/ultra, then it WILL bottleneck. I have an 8320, and before I overclocked it, it was having a bit of a tough time in populated areas with the mesh quality up. You can't really say "There is no bottleneck", because these are telltale symptoms of a bottleneck. Hardware failure would either shut down or freeze the computer. The driver issue has already been eliminated. The OS is likely fine as well, as it worked before installing the new graphics card, when his graphics card and CPU were balanced.

Now I find it hard to believe that hardware is defective since I can play crysis 3 on maximum settings with absolute no lag maybe hitch here and there but nothing to cry, almost every game I play runs insanely well, just bf3 seems to not want to perform properly.. Even running it on the lowest settings I still see framedrops, so confused on what this could be..

I said defective, not failure. A hardware defect does not mean the computer will freeze or shut down.

He can't even run it on Low settings. This is not a bottleneck issue.

so here's the situation, i downloaded everything you told me uninstalled the drivers with that software, all my other drivers are up to date and when playing bf3 there weer no strange fluctuations going on with CPU and GPU is all good, so you solved my issue with the insane amount of lag i had, much appreciated ! and in addition i turned mesh to medium, that was also holding back some performance.

so the problem in which was occurring was, when i went to uninstall the drivers with that piece of software it found my old GPU and my new GPU, it may sound weird but maybe something was getting confused down the line with both of them when playing games and didnt know which to use ? im not to sure but uninstalling ALL the GPU drivers seems to have helped BIG time :D

so thumbs up for you my friend !
